How to use ovulation tests
PLEASE NOTE ALL MY OVULATION AND PREGNANCY TESTS SOLD IN MY SHOP ARE FDA AND CE APPROVED.
WHAT IS OVULATION.?
Ovulation is the release of an egg from the ovary, this egg will then pass into the fallopian tube where it will wait to be fertilized, in order for pregnancy to occur the egg must be fertilized within 24 hrs after its release.
Immediately prior to ovulaton the body produces a large amount of hormone called LH (LUTEINZING HORMONE)
And although there is LH present in a womens urine at all times, prior to ovulation this hormone will surge and will be able to be detected with an ovulation test, ovulation usually takes place in the middle of the menstrual cycle.
The LH hormone is very important as it needed to trigger the release of the ripened egg from the ovary.
The ovulation test strips (urine) detects the LH surge in the urine and informs you that ovulation is about to occur in the next 24-36 hrs it is therfore during this time that pregnancy is most likely to occur .
please note that the LH surge and ovulation may not occur every month, sometimes you can get the LH urge but then no ovulation occurs, this can occasionally happen as it not abnormal.
SPECIMEN COLLECTION AND PREPARATION.
For best results it's regarded best to test between the hours of 10.00am and 8.00pm, the reason for this is to allow the surge to build and increase through out the day, therfore using first morning urine is not recommended.
You will need to reduce your fluid intake for atleast 2 hours prior to testing to ensure a accurate result.
It is important to collect the urine in a clean dry container and allowed to reach room temperature before testing, use the urine from the top of the container.
WHEN TO START TESTING.
Looking at the chart below take note of your'e usual cycle length, for example the usual length of my cycle is every 28 days so i will need to begin testing from day 9, my friends cycle is usually every 32 days so she must begin testing on day 10

Count ahead this many days starting from the first day of your last period
Note: if you are unsure about your cycle length, you can use your shortest cycle length when reading this chart, however if you do this it may mean you need to test for more than 5 days.
My usual cycle is every 28 days and my last period was on the wednesday 3rd, as my cycle is every 28 days i need to count 9 days ahead from the beginning of my period which will be Thursday 11th i will begin testing.
My ovulation test showed positive on monday 15th and i ovulated the next day on the 16th.
My friend has periods every 32 days so she begins testing 10 days after the beginning of her period.

INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS
POSITIVE RESULT
Unlike pregnancy tests where a line no matter how faint is regarded as a positive with ovulation tests that is not the case, to confirm a positive the test line must be the same as or darker than the control line.
NEGATIVE RESULT.
Two lines are visable but the test line is lighter than the control line or there is no test line only the control line.
INVALID
The control line fails to appear this is due to insufficient specimen volume (too little urine) or incorrect procedural technique such as dipped for too short time, dipped for too long, not laid flat after testing.
BELOW IS MY POSITIVE OVULATION TEST STRIP
The two green test strips are 25miu and a 20miu and the clearblue ovualtion test is a 40miu.
As you can see both strip tests are positive as the test line is as dark or darker than the control line, i confirmed this by using a clearblue digital ovulation test, a positive on a clearblue digital ovulation tests shows a smily face as a positive and a clear open circle as a negative.
As you can see all tests show a positive result., please click on the photo to enlarge it.
